Rutger published: JADE Celebrates Trans Pride with Stunning Solo Debut Outfit

In a remarkable moment at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Jade Thirlwall made her solo performance debut, captivating audiences not only with her music but also with a powerful statement through her fashion. Known simply as JADE, the former Little Mix star took the New Music Stage by storm in Liverpool on Sunday, 25 May, showcasing her advocacy for the trans community through her vibrant outfit.

JADE, who rose to fame with the iconic girl band Little Mix on The X Factor, launched her solo career with style and substance. Her performance at the festival marked her first as a solo artist, coinciding with the impending release of her debut album, THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY! During her set, she thrilled fans with renditions of her hit singles including “FUFN (F**k You for Now)”, “IT girl” and “Angel of my Dreams”. She also delighted Little Mix fans with a medley of the band’s hits such as “Shout Out To My Ex”, “Woman Like Me”, “Sweet Melody”, and “Touch”.

JADE’s choice of attire was both fashion-forward and meaningful. The custom-designed outfit by AGRO STUDIO drew inspiration from Anglomania and featured elements that resonate deeply with trans pride. The ensemble included cream chiffon sleeves and a distinctive “deconstructed skirt”, with AGRO STUDIO’s signature tartan pattern ingeniously incorporating the colors of the Trans Pride Flag. The studio confirmed this intentional design on their Instagram, to which JADE enthusiastically responded, showcasing her support with emojis and appreciation.

This isn’t the first time AGRO STUDIO has made waves in the fashion world by supporting trans rights. They previously gained attention for their "Regal British" designs for Remember Monday's Eurovision opening ceremony, which also subtly celebrated the Trans Pride Flag.

Amidst her performance, JADE dropped a tantalizing hint about the possibility of a Little Mix reunion. She playfully altered the lyrics of the song "Wasabi" from “I bet they’re gonna break up” to “It’s a hiatus!”, sparking excitement and speculation among fans about the future of the beloved group.

The enthusiasm for JADE’s solo debut was palpable, with reports indicating that she attracted one of the festival’s largest audiences for a New Music Stage set. According to the Mirror, hundreds of attendees chose to leave the main stage, where HAIM was performing, to catch JADE’s electrifying show.

As fans eagerly anticipate more from the talented artist, JADE is set to make her next appearance at the Mighty Hoopla music festival on Saturday, 31 May. Her debut album, THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY!, is slated for release on 12 September, with a highly anticipated tour kicking off on 8 October.

JADE’s solo debut not only marks an exciting new chapter in her career but also highlights her commitment to using her platform to champion inclusivity and trans rights. Her performance and fashion statement at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend serve as a testament to her talent and advocacy.
