Chastity Bowick has taken on a new role as executive director at Marsha P. Johnson Institute. With a wealth experience and a passionate commitment, she's all set on a mission: advocating fiercely and authentically in support black transgender individuals and their rights. Bowick's eager and ready, focused on carrying forward this important work, driven by integrity and a deep understanding.

A legacy built on transformative leadership

After six impactful years, Elle Moxley, who not only led but also founded Marsha P. Johnson Institute, has decided it's time step back. Established in 2019, Moxley relentlessly addressed rising violence against black trans women in America.

“Marsha lit our path, and Elle kept that flame burning, creating an institute grounded in truth, survival, and joy,” Bowick shared. “I'm not here replace a legacy, but ensure it continues, as part an ongoing story that still has so much more tell.”

Getting know Chastity Bowick: A force in transgender advocacy

Chastity Bowick's no stranger advocacy. Widely respected in community, she's known tirelessness as a trans activist. She led as executive director at Transgender Emergency Fund Massachusetts—a lifeline amid crisis.

Her efforts in transgender health earned recognition with 2016 Belynda Dunn Award from AIDS Action Committee Massachusetts. Bowick's leadership in health programming at AIDS Project Worcester left impact. Plus, she played key role as a longtime board member at Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition.

Today, Bowick heads Chastity Bowick Consulting and Talent Group, empowering trans women color embrace and push forward their stories and causes.
