Rutger published: Rebecca Ferguson Considered for Eurovision 2025 by Non-UK Countries

Rebecca Ferguson, a renowned singer from Liverpool and former X Factor finalist, has recently been approached to represent several European countries at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, despite not being invited by the UK.

Ferguson, who gained fame on The X Factor in 2010, shared during a TikTok Live session that she had received offers from countries outside the United Kingdom to perform at the upcoming Eurovision event in Switzerland. The revelation was made in response to a fan's question about whether she would represent the UK in the contest. A clip of this exchange was later shared on social media, where it quickly garnered significant attention, attracting more than 60,000 views.

"I haven't received any invitations from the UK, but it’s interesting because I've been getting offers from other countries," Ferguson explained. "It's a strange situation for me. I'm being asked to join the Eurovision stage by other countries to collaborate with their artists, but my loyalty lies with the UK. At the same time, my country isn’t extending the invitation."

While the singer did not disclose which nations have contacted her, she mentioned that she would not be performing solo. Instead, she would potentially be part of a duo with an artist from the inviting country. Ferguson's reflections highlight the complex emotions involved in choosing to perform for a country other than her own, especially as she remains a patriotic figure in her homeland.

This potential participation would mark her second appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2023, Ferguson famously performed alongside Ukrainian artist Alyosha when the competition was hosted in Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine, the 2022 winners. Despite having recently given birth only three months prior, Ferguson embraced the opportunity to perform on such a significant stage, demonstrating her commitment to her craft and her resilience as an artist.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is set to take place in Basel, Switzerland, with the grand finale scheduled for May 17. The selection of Basel as the host city has generated excitement among Eurovision fans and participants alike, eager to see what cultural exchange and performances will arise from this year’s competition.

Rebecca Ferguson's potential participation adds an intriguing twist to the upcoming event, especially given her previous experience and the unique circumstances of her possible collaboration with an artist from outside the UK. Her talent and past performances have made her a notable figure in the music industry, and her involvement in Eurovision would undoubtedly be a highlight of the contest.

As the Eurovision Song Contest approaches, fans and music enthusiasts around the world are keenly anticipating the announcement of who will represent each participating country. Ferguson’s unexpected situation serves as a reminder of the global nature of Eurovision and the opportunities it provides for artists to connect across borders and cultures.

We invite our community to share their thoughts on this exciting development. What do you think about Rebecca Ferguson potentially representing a non-UK country at Eurovision 2025? Join the conversation below, and remember to keep it respectful and inclusive.
