Drag Race UK star Kitty Scott-Claus has opened up about her remarkable body transformation, emphasizing the dedication and hard work behind her journey, while addressing rumors about her weight loss methods.
Over the past 18 months, Kitty Scott-Claus, known for her vibrant presence on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, has embarked on a significant lifestyle change. She chose to eliminate alcohol from her life and dedicated herself to a rigorous fitness regimen with the goal of achieving a healthier body.
The journey was not without its challenges. As Kitty recently returned for Global All Stars, she faced toxicity from parts of the Drag Race community, including unfounded accusations that she was using the weight-loss drug Ozempic. This drug, primarily used for diabetes management, has been controversially used by some for weight loss.
In a candid interview with Attitude magazine, Kitty discussed the realities of her transformation and the hard work that has fueled her progress. "For years, I was seen as the 'big' one," she shared, reflecting on her time at drama school where she often found herself being typecast. Her whirlwind life post-Drag Race UK, filled with travel and performance, often left little room for healthy eating habits. "I was living out of a suitcase, grabbing meals on the go from service stations," she recounted.
The turning point came in 2023 when Kitty met personal trainer Monty Simmons. Together, they crafted a fitness plan that included twice-weekly training sessions, complemented by a solo gym workout once a week. She also adhered to a structured diet plan that supported her fitness goals.
"For the first time, I saw results," Kitty recalled. The initial success encouraged her to push forward. Over time, she lost nearly 50 kilograms (approximately 110 pounds), but more importantly, she gained a renewed sense of self. "The biggest gain was something that numbers couldn’t measure: I felt more like myself than I had in years," she expressed.
In addition to her physical training, Kitty made the decision to quit drinking. "The results were immediate," she said. "I started dropping weight faster, felt better mentally, and was more focused. The real shock was that I didn’t miss it." Her commitment to a healthier lifestyle paid off, not only in terms of weight loss but also in mental clarity and focus.
Despite these achievements, Kitty faced skepticism from some members of the Drag Race fanbase. Accusations of using Ozempic or undergoing cosmetic procedures persisted even as she consistently denied these claims. Kitty responded by highlighting the reality of her journey: "While I’ve made it clear that I haven’t used Ozempic or taken short cuts, it’s tough not to feel like my hard work is being diminished. Every early-morning run, every weight lifted, every careful meal, none of it came easily," she emphasized.
Choosing to focus on the positive, Kitty draws strength from the messages of support she receives. "I get so many messages from people telling me I’ve inspired them to start their own fitness journey, and that’s what makes this all worth it," she said.
However, the journey is not without its personal struggles. Even now, Kitty admits to having days where she struggles with body image. "Even now, I have days where I look in the mirror and don’t recognize the person looking back," she confided, acknowledging that despite her success, feelings of body dysmorphia still linger.
Kitty Scott-Claus’s story is a testament to the power of determination and self-care. Her journey, while challenging, showcases the transformative effects of commitment and perseverance. As she continues to inspire others, her message remains clear: true transformation is achieved through hard work and dedication, not shortcuts.
