British Influencer Max Balegde Joins the Australian Jungle Adventure

Popular gay TikTok personality Max Balegde has recently embarked on an exciting new journey as he joins the cast of the Australian reality TV show I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! for its 2025 season on Channel 10. This year’s series, hosted by Julia Morris and Robert Irwin, is set against the stunning backdrop of South Africa and features a diverse array of celebrities from different walks of life.

Max Balegde, known for his candid and humorous online presence, made his debut in the jungle on Sunday, 19 January, alongside 10 other celebrities. Despite the challenging environment, and perhaps to the delight of both new and loyal followers, Max remained true to his open and oversharing persona. He quickly got candid with his campmates about his struggles, sharing that he was enduring severe tummy troubles.

"I have been battling the most violent diarrhoea of my life for the past two days," Max confided. "I'm literally putting all of my energy into making sure I don't s*** myself on national TV right now," he joked, showcasing his trademark humor even in less-than-ideal circumstances.

Joining Max in this adventurous lineup are Olympian Shayna Jack, Love Island Australia star Tina Provis, former AFL player Zach Tuohy, comedian Geraldine Hickey, 90s TV icon Nicky Buckley, and previous Married At First Sight participant Samantha Moitzi. Also part of this year's cast are TV and radio star Dave Hughes, Big Brother alum Reggie Sorensen, Brisbane Broncos’ Sam Thaiday, and former Bachelor Matty J.

Max's participation in the show comes on the heels of his viral moment last year when he stood up for fellow influencer Chappell Roan. Max passionately defended Roan's comments regarding parasocial relationships and the pressures of unexpected fame.

In a now-famous TikTok video, Max urged his followers to "think critically for a second" about Roan’s situation. He explained that Roan, a young woman who skyrocketed to fame through her music, likely felt overwhelmed by the sudden attention. "It’s overwhelming when people come over to you [who] you don’t know and ask for a picture, a video, and they stalk you… has anybody thought how that would feel for a second?" Max queried, touching on a topic that resonated with many online.

Max shared his own experiences with fame, recounting how he too has been left bewildered by fans' actions, such as people shouting at him across the street or even jumping on his back in a supermarket. He expressed empathy for Roan, pointing out that as an artist known for her craft, she should be allowed to set boundaries without backlash.

"She’s someone [who] is known for her art and gained relevance off the back of her music and I’m sure never expected or wanted that aspect of the job to be anything to do with her life, so is she not allowed to say that and set boundaries?" Max asked, sparking widespread discussion on social media about the expectations placed on public figures.

As Max navigates the trials and tribulations of jungle life, fans are excited to see what this new chapter holds for the internet star and how his dynamic personality will shine in such a unique setting. I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30 pm on Channel 10 and 10 Play, offering viewers a chance to follow Max and his fellow celebrities as they face the ups and downs of jungle living.
