Rutger published: Ant and Dec Set to Revive Drag Personas at Mighty Hoopla Festival

Beloved television presenters Ant and Dec have excited fans by suggesting they will bring back their popular drag personas at the upcoming Mighty Hoopla festival in London. This vibrant announcement has fans eagerly anticipating the return of Lady Antoinette and Miss Donna Lee to the stage.

The dynamic duo first introduced their drag characters during a memorable episode of Saturday Night Takeaway in February 2022. During this show-stopping performance, Ant and Dec joined forces with three RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winners for a charity single titled “We Werk Together”. Their exhilarating performance left audiences thrilled and wanting more.

In a recent interview, Ant and Dec took time to reflect on their drag experience and the positive impact it had. Despite facing some initial controversy and complaints, the two presenters found the overwhelming support and praise from fans to be deeply moving. Ant shared, “The response from people stopping us and talking about it afterwards was tremendous – it was more impactful than any previous projects we’ve done.”

Dec expressed similar sentiments, explaining, “It meant more than we ever anticipated. We have always had a strong connection with the LGBTQ+ community. Whether it was our days as PJ and Duncan performing at G-A-Y, or our latest venture into drag, we have always cherished these experiences."

He continued, “The feedback, especially from younger audiences, who said our drag performance held significant meaning for them, was truly heartwarming.”

Ant and Dec are now eager to once again embrace their drag personas for the UK's fabulous queer pop festival, Mighty Hoopla. Scheduled to take place in South London’s Brockwell Park on May 31 and June 1, the festival promises to be a celebration of music and diversity.

Dec confirmed, “We’re planning to bring the girls back.” Ant added, "Performing in drag is a challenging art form that requires skill, dedication, and creativity. We devoted a lot of time to developing our personas and rehearsing, realizing that drag is much more than putting on a costume. It’s an art form we’ve come to respect immensely.”

The 2025 Mighty Hoopla line-up is already generating buzz with confirmed performances by artists like Kesha, Ciara, Loreen, and Adore Delano. With Ant and Dec’s drag personas slated to return, the anticipation for the festival is at an all-time high.

This exciting development adds another layer of excitement and inclusivity to the already diverse and celebrated festival. Many fans are eager to see how Lady Antoinette and Miss Donna Lee will shine onstage alongside the event's impressive roster of talent.

Ant and Dec's commitment to celebrating LGBTQ+ culture through their art not only entertains but also bridges gaps and fosters understanding. Their return to the drag stage serves as a reminder of the power of performance to connect and inspire.

As excitement builds for Mighty Hoopla and the revival of their drag personas, fans are encouraged to join the conversation. Share your thoughts on what this comeback means to you. Let us know in the comments below, and remember to keep the dialogue respectful.
