Westlife honors Mark Feehiloy in emotional Royal Albert Hall show

On October 27, Westlife took center stage at London's Royal Albert Hall and left their audience spellbound. But amidst their dazzling performance, a touching moment unfolded as Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, and Shane Filan paused in honor their bandmate, Mark Feehiloy. As a cornerstone in Westlife's journey, Feehiloy's absence was deeply felt due his ongoing health challenges, making their tribute all more heartfelt.

Celebrating 25 years: Westlife's anniversary tour

This concert was part a grand celebration—Westlife's 25th anniversary tour. It's a testament their lasting impact on music scene. Longtime fans noticed Mark Feehiloy's absence, who, as group openly gay member, has been taking a step back following health complications that arose after surgery in 2020.

The band's touching message

During performance, Shane Filan shared a heartfelt message with audience. "I want a moment talk Mark, who sadly isn't here tonight. But we love him, we miss him, and we're counting days until he's on stage with us again," he said, his words echoing throughout venue with raw emotion.

Mark Feehiloy's creative influence endures

Filan also let fans know that even though Feehiloy's not touring, he's still very much part band's heartbeat. "The good news—he's all over our new music, like 'Chariot'. We've got another album dropping in February," Filan added, sparking excitement in crowd.

A special dedication: "Flying Without Wings"

In a powerful tribute, Westlife dedicated their iconic hit "Flying Without Wings" Mark. Shane Filan shared, "This song, it's Mark's absolute favorite. It's beautiful, so we're dedicating it him tonight." With Kirsten Joy's vocals and London Philharmonic Orchestra, song took on new emotional depth.

Released in '99, "Flying Without Wings" hit UK charts hard, earning its place as a Westlife classic. It boasts over 125 million Spotify streams and platinum status in UK—a testament its timeless appeal.

Mark Feehiloy opens up about his health

In February 2024, Feehiloy took Instagram, sharing his health journey. His 2020 surgery led complications like sepsis, keeping him hospital until December. Even then, his struggles weren't over, facing more surgeries due pneumonia in 2021.

These challenges forced Feehiloy step back from live shows. "After surgery, I wanted push through return tour, but it was too much," he admitted. Priorities shifted toward recovery and family—his fiance Cailean O'Neill and their daughter, born via surrogacy in 2019.

Assuring fans: Shane Filan speaks out

Though not touring, Filan assures fans that Feehiloy remains band's heart and soul. "He's not touring currently, but his voice in our new music speaks volumes. Mark's still every bit Westlife," Filan emphasized.

Fans rally around Mark Feehiloy

Fans across globe haven't stopped sending their love and support Feehiloy, eagerly waiting his stage return. Westlife's loyalty each other and their music shines as they look ahead, gearing up their new album and cherishing their journey together.
