Rutger published: Wake Up Dead Man: A New Knives Out Mystery Teaser Unveiled

The world of murder mysteries is about to get even more exciting with the first teaser for the third film in the acclaimed Knives Out series, titled Wake Up Dead Man. This new installment promises to be a thrilling addition to the franchise, bringing back the beloved detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, for another round of intrigue and suspense.

Return of Benoit Blanc

Dust off those magnifying glasses and prepare your best Southern drawl, because Benoit Blanc is back! Craig first charmed audiences as the quirky detective in 2019's Knives Out, where he shared the screen with stars like Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, and Ana De Armas. The sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, released in 2022, featured a new ensemble including Janelle Monáe, Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, and Kathryn Hahn. Now, Benoit Blanc is ready for his third adventure, and fans couldn't be more excited.

A Star-Studded Cast

The title, Wake Up Dead Man, was first announced in 2024, sparking immediate speculation and excitement. As the cast began to fill out, the anticipation only grew. This time around, the film will feature Josh O'Connor, known for his role in Challengers and flaunting his bisexual baddie persona, alongside Cailee Spaeny from Priscilla, and the ever-charming Andrew Scott, famous for his role as the 'sexy priest' in Fleabag. Joining them are big names like Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church. Whether Hugh Grant will reprise his role as Blanc's partner remains to be seen.

Mystery in the Shadows

Details about the plot remain shrouded in mystery, much like the enigmatic detective at its center. Fans got their first glimpse of the film through a 12-second teaser posted on social media on May 29th. This brief yet tantalizing preview shows an ominous church and graveyard, accompanied by the crescendo of tolling bells that heighten the suspense before cutting to black. The teaser is cryptically captioned "The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers, but the root of the righteous endures," leaving audiences to ponder its meaning.

Filming and Production

Production for Wake Up Dead Man began in mid-2024, with the first look at Blanc's fancy new hairstyle making headlines. Filming wrapped in August, and anticipation has been building ever since. Director Rian Johnson, who also wrote the screenplay, shared a still image in January 2025, featuring Blanc in a church alongside O'Connor in priestly garb. This image only deepened the mystery surrounding the plot and fueled fan speculation about the film's themes.

Prepare for the Most Dangerous Case Yet

As if the teaser wasn't enough to whet the appetite of mystery lovers, the only other hint about the film's story comes in the form of a simple yet provocative logline: "Are you ready for Benoit Blanc's most dangerous case yet?" With each new piece of information, the excitement for the film's release continues to mount.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is set to hit theaters in late 2025, and fans are already marking their calendars. The Knives Out series has been celebrated for its clever storytelling, witty dialogue, and rich character development, and this next installment is expected to continue that tradition. With a stellar cast and a mysterious teaser already creating buzz, the film is poised to deliver another unforgettable murder mystery experience.
