Rutger published: Trixie Mattel Under Fire for Featuring Controversial Comedian on Her Show

Trixie Mattel, beloved drag superstar, has found herself in hot water after inviting comedian Whitney Cummings onto her hit YouTube show, *Out Of Pocket with Trixie Mattel*. The new episode, which dropped on November 18, has fans buzzing—not in a good one—as Cummings' controversial past comments come back under scrutiny.

Why Whitney Cummings stirs controversy

Whitney Cummings has been under fire recently, largely due her previous remarks seen as unfriendly or even hostile towards LGBTQ+ folks. Earlier this year, she took a swing at Algerian boxer Imane Khelif in a joke that misgendered her. Despite facing nasty online comments, Khelif was backed by International Olympics Committee (IOC) and confirmed as competing as a woman.

But it didn't stop there. Cummings riffed on Shania Twain's iconic song "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" referencing it in a joke about Paris Olympics. This didn't sit well with LGBTQ+ communities who found it offensive and tone-deaf at best.

More fuel on Cummings' fire

Adding wood on this already smoldering fire, another instance saw Cummings cast doubt on Kristin Crowley, LA's first openly gay fire chief, during an especially challenging wildfire season. In a deleted video, she quipped, "A lesbian fire chief. Love it… Tried it myself, didn't take." And her remarks didn't stop there, veering off on a tangent about LA's dating scene in a rather confusing twist.

She also made waves alleging favoritism in fire department hirings towards LGBTQ+ candidates with a comment about hiring from "Grindr." It's no wonder these kinds remarks are igniting so much backlash.

Trixie Mattel fans aren't thrilled

Having Whitney Cummings appear on Trixie's show? That was enough spark up a storm among fans. Social media lit up with folks questioning Trixie, with one fan bluntly suggesting, "Keeping that episode up this long? That's wild. Do something about it."

The chorus only grew louder, "Why platform someone accused transphobia?" As one user expressed, "Genuinely upset you've given space on your platform an anti-LGBTQ+ figure like Whitney. Staying silent speaks volumes."

Trixie herself faced some pointed comments, with fans feeling she's ignoring issue altogether. A particularly stinging remark asked, "Are you just pretending nothing happened? Remember when you cared about more than just fame?"

Trixie's silence not helping

As all this unfolds, Trixie's choice not respond has only fanned flames. The calls her speak up—to do something—are growing louder and more desperate. Public figures, especially in LGBTQ+ communities, often have delicate balancing act between who they collaborate with and what their audience expects.

A time when representation and sensitivity hold so much weight, fans want accountability. They're asking Trixie take real steps addressing their concerns.

As this story continues evolve, community members, fans, and anyone watching are encouraged join conversation—just keep it respectful. We're all curious see how Trixie will tackle this mess and whether she'll make moves mend fences her fans.

We'd love hear your thoughts in comments below. Let's keep it thoughtful and kind.
