As with all competitions, someone leaves each week; recently, it was Gordon, who had hoped his time there would show just how universal and stigma-free knitting really can be.
Daley, reflecting on his own experiences, said, "I never felt shame in knitting. It was never strange or different from me." Growing up queer, he faced societal pressures, but always found that knitting was his safe harbor.
Embracing knitting as a superpower
At 30, crafting now gives Daley both peace and power. He explained, "Knitting lets me step away from life's chaos and be here, right now. It's my superpower, channeling creativity and calm."
This passion perfectly intertwines with his career. When he first heard about a "scratchcard-igan," Daley was intrigued. "Knitting and crochet are woven through my life, so turning a cardigan cash prize was genius," he said.
