Tim Cook, Apple's Trailblazing CEO, Steps Down
Tim Cook, who made history as the first openly gay CEO of a Fortune 500 company, has announced his decision to step down from his role as Apple's CEO in September 2026. Cook, who has been at the helm of Apple since 2011, initially took over as CEO following Steve Jobs' departure. Cook will transition to a new role as Apple's executive board chairman. Succeeding him as CEO will be Johnny Ternus, a seasoned hardware engineer with over 25 years of experience at Apple.

Expressing his profound appreciation, Cook wrote, "I feel a gratitude that I cannot put into words, that I somehow got to be the person on the other end of those emails, leading a company that ignites imaginations and enriches lives in such profound ways it defies description. What an honor and a privilege it has been."
Under Cook's leadership, Apple reached unprecedented heights, achieving a market capitalization of $4 trillion. The company's products have become integral to daily life across various sectors, including media, medicine, business, and government.
