Rutger published: Theo Germaine Found Safe After Harrowing Incident

Theo Germaine, a non-binary actor known for their role in Netflix's "The Politician," was recently found safe but "badly concussed" after going missing, prompting a frantic search by their family.

Germaine, aged 32, first gained widespread recognition in 2019 through their work on "The Politician" and has since appeared in notable projects such as "Spark" (2024) and "They/Them" (2022). The actor was reported missing around 2am on Sunday, causing significant concern among loved ones and fans.

The alert was initially raised by Germaine's partner, William Rusan. He reached out to social media, urging the public to help locate Germaine, who was reported to have been disoriented at the time of their disappearance. Rusan expressed his concern, stating, "They are disoriented and their phone is not charged. If you see them, DM me, call me… or their mother… immediately. Thank you, and I apologize for the alarm. Concussions are scary."

Approximately six hours later, Rusan provided an update via Instagram, bringing relief to many who were following the search. He announced that Germaine had been found "badly concussed, cold and out of sorts but otherwise unharmed."

In his update, Rusan expressed profound gratitude to everyone who assisted in the effort, stating, "The family here cannot thank everyone enough for your help and well wishes." He also mentioned that the post would be archived once people were aware that the emergency had passed, emphasizing the importance of privacy in Germaine's recovery, "The community that showed up for them is incredible but privacy will help the healing," Rusan concluded.

Following the incident, Rusan also shared via Facebook that Germaine was now safe at home and "under doctor’s care." He noted that their partner's "capacity to work with screens will be temporarily diminished" due to the concussion, meaning they might not be able to respond to messages promptly.

The exact circumstances surrounding Germaine’s disappearance remain unclear, adding to the community's concern and curiosity about the situation. However, the focus remains on Germaine's recovery and wellbeing.

In past interviews, Theo Germaine has been open about their experiences and roles that resonate with their identity. They previously spoke to PinkNews about their involvement in "They/Them," a horror film by Blumhouse that features LGBTQ+ teens in a conversion camp setting. This film, described by Germaine as "intimidating," explores themes that are deeply personal to them.

Germaine shared their reflections on the film's challenging themes, "Really dealing with these topics also felt kind of intimidating because of my personal history with the umbrella that is conversion tactics. It kind of felt like the perfect storm of exactly what I needed to be working on."

Germaine expressed excitement about portraying a character whose gender identity closely aligns with their own, "I’ve not really gotten to play somebody yet who fits my real life profile quite as much. So I was like, I really want to play somebody who uses my [they/them] pronouns, that would be really awesome."

As Theo Germaine takes the time needed to recover, the support from their community and family continues to be strong and heartfelt. The recent incident has highlighted not only the challenges faced by individuals dealing with medical issues like concussions but also the power of community solidarity and support.
