In politics, extremist figures have historically sought attention by targeting vulnerable groups. However, recent election trends suggest that going after transgender individuals isn't winning votes like it used. This change brings hope and motivation among those fighting transphobia's harmful impact.
Transgender people make up about 1% percent, yet they've been caught in political crossfire, with some using them as scapegoats rather than addressing real societal issues. In 2025 alone, over 600 anti-LGBTQ+ bills surfaced in state legislatures, spreading fear and discrimination against transgender youth in particular.
These bills are part a wider attempt undermine LGBT dignity, leading mental health crises and compromising safety. Tragically, from late 2023 late 2024, we lost at least 36 transgender and gender-expansive individuals, with a heartbreaking majority being Black trans women.
In this climate, we've launched "Fight our Rights PAC" cut through anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric elections. Our goal? Ousting candidates who fuel transphobia, particularly those backing gender-affirming care bans that isolate transgender youth under pretensey 'parent rights'.
This fight goes beyond transphobia; it touches on equality and human rights. Today's targets on transgender rights could eventually shift marriage equality other liberties. It certainly doesn't end with one group.
The 2025 elections were a real eye-opener. Republican candidates—like a hopeful in Virginia—spent a ton anti-trans ads fueled by bathroom and youth-related fearmongering. But guess what? Voters didn't buy it.
In states like Virginia and New Jersey, focused our efforts six notorious anti-trans candidates. Each one was replaced leaders who prioritize equality and protection, especially children. Voters made clear they're choosing leaders who defend—not target—vulnerable communities.
Our campaign wasn't about putting transgender people center stage in this political drama. Instead, we pushed accountability, zeroing in issues voters care about: healthcare, economic security, governance.
Many anti-trans politicians had shoddy records that fell short constituents' values and needs. By calling out these discrepancies, flipped focus their actual performance on pressing issues, rendering their culture-war tactics useless.
The wins in 2025 weren't mere luck. They sprang from strategic planning: expecting attacks, crafting messages, and keeping campaign focus voters' concerns. Courage, transparency, steering clear divisive rhetoric made success achievable.
To young transgender people: you're not alone. There's a strong support network committed building safer, more accepting environment every day. Though fight's far from over, progress has been made, and we'll keep fighting until true equality's reached.
The fading influence anti-trans rhetoric in elections offers a beacon hope. It reminds us what we can achieve when we come together justice, equality, and dignity. United, we can build a society where everyone can truly be themselves—free from fear, discrimination.
