As in previous cases, there has been a swift narrative shift by some right-wing media and commentators who use the alleged gender identity of the shooter as a means to vilify the entire transgender community. This pattern of scapegoating a marginalized group in the wake of a tragedy is both dangerous and dehumanizing.

Westman, armed with multiple firearms, carried out the attack during a morning service, before ending their life in the church parking lot.
