As we gear up towards another holiday season, there comes a brilliant glimmer on our radar: The Trans Secret Santa project. Spearheaded by none other than our friends at Trans+ Solidarity Alliance, this annual tradition aims at bringing a bit more light and laughter specifically crafted with trans youth under 25 in mind. It truly feels like a warm embrace at a time when our community could use it most.
What's more festive than gifts? The initiative rounds up fantastic presents from big-name brands and brilliant trans creators, sharing them with trans young people across all corners. They've set their sights high this year, hoping a whopping 1,000 gifts find their homes in eager hands and hearts.
If you're a trans individual under 25, this opportunity's too good not be a part—just fill out a simple form on their website and voilà. But, and it bears repeating, don't dawdle, as you've got until November 30's eve.
Octavian Starr, a powerhouse behind this happiness brigade, shed light on how recent legal hurdles faced by our community make this initiative more vital than ever. "With rulings that seem determined on shortening our reach, like those tackling our rightful access in spaces like bathrooms—being there, loudly and lovingly, matters even more,” Starr remarked. "Every trans youth should be celebrated, seen, truly embraced, and particularly during this festive time."
Started in 2022, Trans Secret Santa emerged as a beacon—offering joy during festive times especially where family support might be more wishful than real. Year one saw 700 gifts winging their joyous ways around. Now in round three? They're ready and raring, aiming not just higher but deeper, ensuring more young folks are woven in this warmth and wonder.
"Gifting young trans folks represents more than just a present," Starr said. "It delivers hope, healing, and a much-needed reminder we're walking this journey together towards brighter horizons."
So far, their campaign's buoyed by hearty support, raising over £2,000 from 89 incredibly generous souls. Every penny funnels directly back, transforming donations magically (practically) straight back towards filling young lives with that special seasonal glow.
"Jump in however you can," Starr urged, leaving no good deed unvalued—whether receiving, donating, or tossing words out there like confetti. "This winter, you're acting as an architect crafting wonder and magic,” they added. New faces are rolling in from all over, but hey, there remains room, even an invite, standing wide open.
Every little helps, as donations are still being heartily welcomed. "Your generosity lights up more than just a present; it illuminates someone's entire holiday,” Starr concluded warmly.
Trans individuals under 25, here lies a call—apply soon, before November 30, through their straightforward application page. This chance doesn't just bring gifts, it brings connection, crafted thoughtfully by folks rooted deeply in love and care.
Join hands in this heartfelt campaign. Share your thoughts, experiences, even cautious whispers, but keep kindness front and center. Together, this winter, let us write a different story—for trans youth everywhere.
