Sminty Drop Reflects on Her Dramatic Drag Race UK vs The World Exit

Few queens from RuPaul's Drag Race can claim that their departure has been etched into the annals of reality TV history. However, Sminty "Sad Twerk" Drop, now affectionately dubbed Sminty "Middle Finger" Drop, stands among those iconic exits.

In the fourth episode of RuPaul's Drag Race UK vs The World season three, Sminty Drop faced a tumultuous journey. After a triumphant performance in the previous week's Snatch Game challenge, this Manchester queen confronted the 'Girl Groups From Outer Space' challenge. Notably, she had struggled with a similar challenge during her original appearance on Drag Race UK season four.

Feeling apprehensive, Sminty’s anxieties were exacerbated by her fellow competitors, who made disparaging comments about her rehearsal performance. Sminty overheard these remarks, and her confidence appeared to crumble instantly.

Though tensions eased between her and her competitors before the final performance of the group's song “I’m in Love with an Alien,” Sminty ultimately faltered. Despite her stunning appearance and immaculate bars, RuPaul and the judges were underwhelmed by the overall package. As a result, Sminty found herself among the bottom three queens, alongside Drag Race veteran Mariah Paris Balenciaga and Serena Morena.

The situation further deteriorated when Sminty's Drag Race UK sister, Kate Butch, who had won the challenge, used the power of the 'Chippy Tea' to save Mariah, not Sminty. This decision shocked Sminty, who was unaware of Kate's alliance with Mariah.

Visibly furious, Sminty was left to lip-sync against Serena Morena. Despite Serena's comical wig reveal, Sminty struggled to remember the lyrics to the lip-sync song, "I Heard A Rumour" by Bananarama, ultimately leading to her elimination. Before departing, Sminty gave Kate a parting gift: a defiant middle finger.

Hours after her elimination, Sminty opened up about the tension with her peers, her struggles with the lyrics, and her current relationship with Kate Butch.

Sminty Shares Her Post-Show Reflections

"I’m feeling gutted," Sminty confided. "I feel like I had so much more to show. It’s a relief to have the pressure of Drag Race lifted, but it’s sad not to showcase the rest of my looks and reads." She added, "Being perceived as the villain opens you up to online negativity, but I was just trying to make great TV!"

When asked if she considered herself a villain, Sminty responded, "I don’t think I was the villain! Everything was said with humor and no malice. We were there to create memorable TV, and I wanted to make history."

Sminty expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return, stating, "I’m proud of my highs this season, especially my Snatch Game as Chelsea the Big Bad Wolf. I proved my critics wrong and showed I am that b****."

Reflecting on the challenging moments, Sminty acknowledged, "Drag Race is unpredictable. Once you're in it, you're in it—you can't go back. It’s about managing the pressure and performing despite it."

Addressing the Drama with Kate Butch

"The decision Kate made was strategic," Sminty explained. "I can’t fault her for playing the game, but I was hurt by what felt like betrayal from someone I considered close." She added, "Drag Race is exhausting, and I think by episode four, my energy was drained."

Reflecting on the episode, Sminty admitted, "Hearing comments during rehearsals knocked my confidence, but I knew the choreography well. Seeing RuPaul’s face during the performance threw me off."

Despite the outcome, Sminty took pride in her lyrics. "You can’t take away the fact that I looked stunning and my verse was unique. Who else would think of a ‘facehugger between these thighs’?"

On her relationship with Kate, Sminty noted, "In retrospect, I understand her decision, but in the moment, it was hard to accept. I’m grateful we’ve talked it out and are on good terms now." She remarked, "You can’t dictate how I feel, and my emotions in the moment were valid."

Sminty concluded with a laugh about the infamous middle finger gesture, "It was all in good fun, and Kate knew it wasn’t malicious. We’ve Facetimed since and laughed about the fans’ reactions."
