Sia's Recent Life Changes
Sia, the acclaimed Australian singer and songwriter, renowned for hits like "Chandelier" and "Cheap Thrills," has recently made headlines by filing for divorce from her husband Dan Bernad. This decision comes less than a year after the quiet arrival of their child, Somersault Wonder Bernad. The star, whose full name is Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, experienced a whirlwind year, marrying Bernad in a secret ceremony in December 2022, followed by a grand celebration in Portofino, Italy, in May 2023.
According to court documents filed on March 18, Sia cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation. Despite the pending divorce, Sia has requested both legal and physical custody of their child, Somersault, while indicating openness to Bernad having visitation rights. Notably, Sia has requested that no spousal support be awarded to Bernad.
Embracing Motherhood

The couple underwent in-vitro fertilization in hopes of starting a family, but their marriage ended in 2016, leaving Sia unable to use the embryos they had created. Sia has openly discussed the emotional toll this period took on her, revealing in a 2023 interview with Zane Lowe's Apple Music Beats 1 podcast that the divorce led to a severe depression that lasted several years.
"I got divorced and that really threw me for a loop," Sia confessed. "That was such a dark time that I was in bed for three years, really, really severely depressed, and so I couldn’t really do anything for that period of time."
