How Andy Hall's Activewear Line Is Transforming Inclusivity in Sports

Passion and purpose often make a great combination, and Andy Hall has them both in spades. An openly gay athlete with a heart set on making a tangible difference, Andy stepped onto an unusual playing field: fashion. Through his activewear line, he champions inclusivity in sports with style and subtlety.

From track star To fashion trailblazer

Back in his college days, Andy Hall was not just another student at Kenyon College but a track and field dynamo, blazing through sprint events like nobody's business. Today, he's using that same drive, not on a track, but as a beacon in fashion. As an outspoken advocate within our LGBTQ+ community, Andy has channeled his experiences and beliefs through his brand, &NDY. The clever use an ampersand in his brand's name isn't a coincidence—it's a big thumbs-up signaling connection and unity.

How &NDY Activewear Came To Life

The spark that ignited &NDY wasn't born in a boardroom but in Andy's mind a few years ago. He envisioned more than just gym clothes; he imagined gear that discreetly signals, "Hey, we're in this together," with those subtle rainbows and body-positive designs. It's a quiet signal, telling folks they're among allies and friends.

The Journey Of Building A Brand

Fueled by encouragement from his husband, a fellow entrepreneur, Andy dove headfirst and brought his vision kicking and screaming from daydreams in international relations offices straight onto fitness racks. "I'm building this plane while I'm flying it," Andy says, capturing perfectly that mix-tape blend: part excitement, part anxiety. With a past life steeped in sports, including high school soccer glory and national-level squash, Andy knows what it means when sports define who you are.

But sports aren't without their rough patches. After multiple concussions, soccer—a core part as Andy put it—became a memory rather than a future. "Soccer was a big part," he reflects, but life had other plans. This push-pull led him on a new path toward track and field.

Championing Inclusion in Sports Settings

Being out and proud came with its own set challenges, especially in environments where heteronormativity felt like its own event. Andy recalls opening up during his freshman year, and by junior year, he was fully embracing every part his identity. Yet, even among teammates who were cool and accepting, discussions about sexual orientation weren't table talk.

"It wasn't like people had issues," Andy says, "but it wasn't part conversation either." This silence was Andy's catalyst, spurring him on a mission create athletic apparel that sparks conversations and fosters visible community support.

Elevating The LGBTQ+ Fitness Scene

Through &NDY, Andy's lifting up LGBTQ+ individuals, giving them not just a wardrobe but a voice in fitness. "I want empower people, elevate visibility," he shares. And with each piece, he's doing just that.

With its thoughtful, eye-catching designs, &NDY isn't just fashion—it's a passport feeling you belong. It's like your attire's saying, "We're in this together”—and that can make all difference.
