Rutger published: Olivia Attwood Discusses the Inclusion of a Gay Couple in Bad Boyfriends Season Two

Olivia Attwood's decision on including a same-sex couple in season two, she says, was a natural and essential step forward.

The much-hyped return sneaks up this month, with Olivia Attwood-Dack, who we all remember from her time on Love Island, back in action as host. This round, focusing on relationships and cheating, will have its first gay couple among those featured.

What makes up 'Bad Boyfriends'?

At first glance, 'Bad Boyfriends' looks like it's about eight guys who think they're partaking in a documentary about men and friendship on a Greek island. But plot twist! Olivia crashes their party with news that they're really there on a mission: become better partners. Their girlfriends—and now boyfriends—turn up unexpectedly, bringing this surprise twist.

This time around, a same-sex partner will be partaking in this twist, a first that was announced just recently on September 2nd.

Olivia Attwood on diversity in casting

At an ITV Reality event, Attwood-Dack explained, “Bringing in a same-sex couple was an easy call. We're all about expanding what we show on screen and making sure everyone's represented.” She also talked about how they cast, saying, “Viewers don't always realize how much thought goes in. We look out couples who have real stories, real issues they're willing and ready enough sharing on TV. It adds depth.”

Olivia, who has also worked on other inclusive projects like 'Getting Filthy Rich,' noted that not having a same-sex couple in season one wasn't deliberate. "It was all about finding that right fit," she shared. "And this season, Anthony and Dillon fit perfectly with what we're exploring."

Meet Anthony and Dillon

Anthony, who works as a care assistant, and Dillon, who coordinates activities at a care home, are stepping in with seven other pairs ready bracing themselves unexpected events. Olivia pointed out that Anthony and Dillon's willingness in opening up enriches everything.

“We're thrilled they're here,” Attwood-Dack beamed. “Their story grips you, and their being here really shows that we're committed real-world relationships, all shapes and sizes.”

The upcoming season isn't just about drama and laughs; it aims shedding light on love and its many faces.

Where and when you can catch it

Tune in September 14th on ITV2 or catch it streaming on ITVX. As viewers buzz with excitement, they're ready see how Anthony and Dillon mix things up.

This isn't only about eye-catching TV; it showcases varied relationship tales, making it worth watching if you're all about love, conflict, and resolution stories.

As that date draws closer, excitement grows. By featuring a same-sex couple, this show widens its audience and cements itself as a timely and inclusive part reality TV.
