Non-binary Actor Jack Haven Reveals New Name in Heartfelt Instagram Post
Jack Haven, the non-binary actor known for their impressive performance in the psychological horror film I Saw The TV Glow, has shared an important personal update with their fans. In a touching post on Instagram, the actor formerly known as Brigette Lundy-Paine announced that they have adopted a new name.
"I am changing my name, going by Jack Haven now," the actor began their post. They explained that the name Haven is inspired by their great-great-uncle, Haven Gillespie, who was a notable songwriter. Gillespie is famous for penning the beloved Christmas classic "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," which he reportedly wrote in just 15 minutes while riding the subway.
The choice of the first name "Jack" came from workshops led by a close friend, actor and director Saman Arastoo. "I said I was using it in safe spaces. Saman said use it in dangerous spaces. So I use it in the men’s bathroom," Haven shared, illustrating their journey of embracing their identity.
The announcement was met with overwhelming support from fans and colleagues, including I Saw The TV Glow director Jane Schoenbrun, who expressed their affection and support on social media by writing, "LOVE U JACK."
Jack Haven has been a vocal advocate for non-binary visibility and representation. They first came out publicly as non-binary in 2019, sharing their experience on social media: "I’m non-binary, always felt a lil bit boy, lil bit girl, lil bit neither.
