Married at First Sight UK has returned for its 2025 season, and this time, it is making waves with the inclusion of two queer couples who are set to walk down the aisle. Known for its unique matchmaking format, where couples meet for the first time at the altar, the show continues to push boundaries and embrace diversity within its cast.
The show features individuals who are expertly matched by relationship gurus Paul C Brunson, Mel Schilling, and Charlene Douglas. These couples agree to marry upon their first meeting, embark on a honeymoon, and then decide if they want to remain together. This year, the show has introduced us to 18 brides and grooms, promising an exciting season filled with romance, discovery, and drama.
Among the new cast is Leah, a bisexual Liverpudlian who has openly expressed her excitement about the experience of meeting her partner at the altar. Speaking to Diva magazine, Leah shared her enthusiasm about the opportunity:
“It’s thrilling to walk down the aisle not knowing who you’ll meet. I couldn’t wait to see who it was, and the nerves were minimal because I was so excited.”
Leah is set to be part of the show’s first femme-femme relationship, a groundbreaking moment for representation. She expressed her thoughts on the matter:
“I believe it’s important to dispel stereotypes. When it comes to lesbian relationships on TV, there’s often a masc and a femme dynamic. It’s crucial to showcase the diversity that exists within relationships.”
In this groundbreaking season, Leah shares a moment with Keye, one half of the second same-sex couple:
“Keye mentioned the apprehension of walking into a room full of men. However, seeing me provided a sense of relief, knowing there was another same-sex marriage represented here,” Leah recounted.
This encounter highlights the importance of representation and community, offering comfort and solidarity in shared experiences.
Davide, originally from Portugal, is another participant who brings his own story of love and loss. Previously, Davide had planned a grand wedding, but his relationship ended abruptly. Now, he is looking for someone who is kind-hearted, handsome, and shares his love for cats.
“I am ready to open my heart again and hope to find someone who values romance and companionship as much as I do,” Davide shares.
Married at First Sight UK has featured several LGBTQ+ couples in past seasons. In 2021, the show introduced its first gay couple, Matt Jameson and Daniel McKee, who remained together for two years before parting ways.
The 2022 season was notable for showcasing two queer couples, including its first lesbian pairing, Jenna Robinson and Zoe Clifton. While Thomas Hartley and Adrian Sanderson from that season have since separated, Robinson and Clifton continue to thrive and frequently share updates on Instagram.
In 2023, Mark Kiley and Sean Malkin were matched, but their relationship faced challenges from the start and eventually ended. Charlie Curtis and Eve Reid also appeared last season but chose to exit the show early.
Married at First Sight UK airs on E4, with new episodes available from Sunday to Friday at 9pm. Fans can also stream episodes on Channel 4, ensuring they don’t miss any of the exciting developments this season.
