Rutger published: Marjorie Taylor Greene Responds to Trump’s Polarizing Easter Messages

Last year, some conservatives, like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, were pretty upset about Trans Day Of Visibility (TDOV) overlapping with Easter Sunday. Greene even compared President Joe Biden's shout-out on TDOV with former President Donald Trump's “joyous” Easter message. But was it really all sunshine and rainbows? Not quite. One part was rather sour and political.

The intersection between politics and public reaction

Around that time, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took a jab at Greene. She pointed out how Greene might've gained from Trump-era policies that hurt many. Ocasio-Cortez wondered if Greene was profiting from what she called "people's despair."

The official White House account underscored how different Biden's and Trump‘s messages were by sharing articles about it. Some people got things mixed up and thought Biden had declared Easter as TDOV, but that's not true. TDOV's always on March 31. Since they coincided last year, it led right-wing folks down a misunderstanding rabbit hole.

Back on Trump, his second Easter note, which Greene shared, dripped with acrimony. She chimed in with a post saying, "There are only two genders/sexes: MALE and FEMALE," stirring more debates on social media.

Divisive social media exchanges

Trump's formal Easter greeting was short and sweet, wishing everyone a wonderful holiday and tipping his hat toward America's spiritual vibe. But his social media presence? Total shift. He wished a happy Easter, even calling out what he termed "Radical Left Lunatics," blaming them and others, especially over open borders claims aimed at Biden, which were unsubstantiated.

And if that wasn't enough, Trump went on a rant, labeling Biden as a disastrous president, hinting at those debunked 2020 election theories.

Conservative discontent continues

The TDOV and Easter overlap kept ruffling conservative feathers, notably among Trump and Greene. Trump jokingly floated renaming Easter as "Christian Visibility Day," but nothing came from that.

At a later Republican National Convention, Greene hammered on Democrats, miffed that a transgender observance shared a day with a notable Christian celebration. Her talk didn't go down well, drawing boos from some attendees.

This year, Easter's calendar buddy was April 20th, infamous in cannabis culture circles. Yet, Trump and Greene didn't make a fuss about this one. Want more on these issues? Subscribe and keep up with stories that matter most in LGBTQ+ spheres worldwide, straight from us!
