Lucy Dacus Unveils New Music and Tour Plans

Renowned queer artist and singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus has thrilled fans with the announcement of her upcoming fourth studio album, Forever is a Feeling. Alongside this exciting news, Dacus has released the music video for her latest single, "Ankles," and revealed plans for an extensive North American tour.

The highly anticipated music video for "Ankles" debuted on January 15th, capturing the imaginations of fans worldwide. Shot against the picturesque backdrop of Paris, the video features Dacus as a painting brought to life. Havana Rose Liu, known for her role in the film Bottoms, stars alongside Dacus as a vigilant museum security guard. This artistic collaboration has already sparked enthusiastic reactions on social media.

One fan expressed excitement online, remarking, "You know fans are going to love seeing Lucy Dacus and Havana Rose Liu collaborate." Another admirer humorously noted, "I always thought Lucy Dacus was a literal work of art."

Sharing her thoughts in an interview with Dazed, Dacus admitted to feeling a mix of excitement and nerves about releasing new solo material following the tremendous success of boygenius's 2023 album, The Record. Despite these feelings, she emphasized that her goals for Forever is a Feeling are distinct from her work with boygenius.

"The new single is a lot more sensual than what I usually create, but it has a playful energy," Dacus explained. "It's about longing for someone who seems unattainable."

The video presents Dacus in a flowing red Rodarte gown, which, despite its visual appeal, proved challenging to wear during filming. "It was quite a nuisance, and on the second day, I actually fainted while shooting," she revealed. "Back in the day, people had fainting couches for garments like this. We had to cut out a bridge sequence, but I'm very pleased with the final result."

Fans can look forward to seeing Dacus perform live as she embarks on a tour that will take her across the United States and Canada. This tour promises to showcase the new music from Forever is a Feeling alongside beloved hits from her previous albums.
