Rutger published: Los Angeles Celebrates 25th Annual LGBTQ+ Super Bowl Bash with Style and Generosity

The vibrant city of Los Angeles once again played host to the annual LGBTQ+ Super Bowl Bash, marking its 25th celebration in splendid style. This iconic event, believed to be the largest gathering of LGBTQ+ sports fans for the Super Bowl globally, drew hundreds of attendees, all eager to enjoy an unforgettable day of friendship, philanthropy, and football.

Renowned community leader Brian Pendleton has been the driving force behind this celebration since its inception in 2000. His dedication to the LGBTQ+ community in Los Angeles is well-recognized, and every year, he ensures that the party not only entertains but also supports worthy causes. This year, the beneficiaries were the Out Athlete Fund’s Pride House LA-West Hollywood and local fire relief efforts.

Brian Pendleton’s commitment to supporting first responders is longstanding, having served as chairman and board member of the Los Angeles Police and Fire pension system for seven years. His recent role on the board of directors for the Out Athlete Fund signifies his continued dedication to LGBTQ+ sports initiatives, with plans to host Pride House at major upcoming sporting events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics.

"Sharing the Super Bowl experience with both old friends and new acquaintances was truly incredible," Pendleton remarked. "The night was made even more special by our collective efforts to support the UFLAC Wildlife Firefighters Fund and the Out Athlete Fund’s Pride House. The generosity and warmth of everyone present were truly inspiring."

The event boasted perfect winter weather by Los Angeles standards, with temperatures comfortably at 70 degrees as the halftime show commenced. Philadelphia Eagles fans had plenty to celebrate, while Kansas City Chiefs supporters, as well as Taylor Swift enthusiasts, found their own reasons to cheer.

Attendees were treated to a feast of 206 Domino’s pizzas, ensuring no one went hungry as they enjoyed the game. In a heartwarming moment, Freddy Escobar, president of the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, addressed the gathering, thanking them for their support and dedication. The crowd reciprocated with enthusiasm, underscoring the spirit of community and gratitude that characterized the evening.

The success of the Big Gay Super Bowl Bash was attributed to the efforts of several key individuals and groups. Daniel Jordan played a pivotal role in managing the event’s production, ensuring every detail was executed flawlessly. Mitch Lathrop, Spencer Huff, and Jon Johnson of Fuse were instrumental in constructing a breathtaking two-story LED screen that broadcast the game across the city, accompanied by an impressive sound system.

The event was further supported by the generosity of Leslie Barclay and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, who have consistently supported the LGBTQ+ community. The dedicated volunteers included Omer Bese, musical artist and business owner Kelly Kidd, and Joshua Marín-Mora, who is part of California Assembly member Rick Zbur’s team.

The Heart of the Celebration

Amidst the entertainment and festivities, the event remained true to its philanthropic mission. The donations collected will aid wildfire relief efforts and support the development of Pride House, a space for LGBTQ+ athletes and allies to gather during major international sporting events.

The diverse crowd, including NFL fans, jocks, twinks, otters, bears, silver foxes, and everyone in between, exemplified the inclusivity and unity that the event strives to foster. The celebration not only provided an opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community to connect and engage in meaningful dialogue but also showcased the power of community and collective support.

As the festivities drew to a close, attendees departed with fond memories and a shared sense of accomplishment. The 2025 LGBTQ+ Super Bowl Bash set a new standard for future celebrations, promising even greater success and impact in the years to come.

With such a strong emphasis on community, charity, and celebration, the annual LGBTQ+ Super Bowl Bash has solidified its place as a staple event in Los Angeles, drawing participants from near and far. It continues to be a beacon of hope, unity, and joy within the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
