Everybody say "Love!" as the stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17, Kori King and Lydia B Kollins, have made it official—they are indeed a couple.
In the words of Taylor Swift, it’s a RuPaul’s Drag Race love story—baby, just say "Yas!" Fans have been thrilled to witness this budding romance, which was confirmed during a recent viewing party in Chicago. Kori King, known for her vibrant personality and stunning performances, shared the exciting news at Roscoe’s Tavern while discussing episode eight of the season.
For those following the latest season, it comes as little surprise. Chemistry has been brewing between Kori, the charismatic Boston-born drag star, and Lydia, the queen from Pittsburgh, since the early episodes of season 17. From the start, viewers observed their unique connection, which only grew stronger as the season progressed.
During the "Wicked Wiz of Oz: The Rusical!" episode, the duo was seen sharing tender moments at the main table in the Werk Room, with Kori wrapping her hands around Lydia’s waist. This was just one of the many instances that hinted at their close bond.
"It’s quite obvious that Lydia and I have a little thing going on," Kori gushed during her confessional. "We’re very close. I’m blushing." Her candid admission was a delight to fans who had been speculating about their relationship for weeks.
Kori shared more insights during her guest appearance at Roscoe’s, where she was accompanied by All Stars 9 queen Jorgeous. Hosted by co-hosts Naysha Lopez, Batty Davis, and Kara Mel D'Ville, the event turned into a celebration of love and authenticity.
Kara noted that Kori and Lydia are possibly the first Drag Race couple to remain together after filming. When asked if they had to "play it cool" during filming to avoid being put in the bottom two, Kori revealed, "You know what’s so funny? We were kind of talking to each other and flirting, and stuff like that, but we weren’t thinking about it for the camera’s sake. That’s probably why they didn’t catch as much of it."
She continued, "We were just in a relationship on the show, but we didn’t really play it up for the cameras. They didn’t really catch all the nonsense that we were doing."
Naysha, eager to know more, asked about the extent of their relationship. Kori responded with a smile, "Well, we’re together. Yeah. Officially."
Pressed on whether they became official during filming or afterward, Kori explained, "It progressed after we got home. And then it flourished a couple of months after filming." Their relationship, which began as a spark on set, blossomed into something deeper once the cameras stopped rolling.
While Kori did face challenges during the season, including landing in the bottom two alongside Acacia Forgot, she managed to stay in the competition, much to the delight of her fans. Neither Kori nor Lydia have won a challenge yet, but their love story has captured the hearts of many.
As viewers eagerly await new episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race, airing Fridays on MTV in the US and WOWPresents Plus internationally, the romance between Kori and Lydia continues to be a highlight of the season.
