Rutger published: Furry Convention Responds After Attendees Face Harassment at Event

Big news from GoldenHorn, Slovenia's beloved furry convention—it's moving venues! This decision comes after this year's event faced some troubling incidents, which led organizers from SloFurs, who run this colorful shindig, scrambling. They're all set on making sure future gatherings are safe and fun. Last year's convention was held on November 14th and 15th, and it's a shame it didn't go as smoothly as planned.

Celebrating furry culture at GoldenHorn

GoldenHorn isn't just any event—it's a yearly festival that dives deep and celebrates furry culture. Whether you're fascinated by anthropomorphic animals or just enjoy dressing up, it's a place where like-minded souls gather. While being a furry isn't about your sexuality or gender identity, there's definitely a strong bond between this community and LGBTQ+ folks, many if whom find a welcoming home here.

A rough patch at 2025's convention

It wasn't all fun and games at this year's convention. Unfortunately, some attendees had a rough time when troublemakers tossed firecrackers at their lodgings on night one. Imagine that! The resort team and local cops were on it right away, though.

The drama didn't stop there, as a similar group showed up again, prompting more calls and a police arrest. Things took a nasty turn when some attendees faced a more direct attack in their rooms. I heard a fire extinguisher was used against them—how terrifying! Thankfully, medical help arrived in a flash and took care o those injuries.

Furry community shows resilience

After these incidents, many in our furry family were left shaken. One attendee even shared their harrowing experience on Bluesky, calling it "scare and shocking." But despite it all, their message was clear: don't let fear win. Keep embracing what you love and lend support where it's needed.

"Don't let them scare you off from living your passions," they urged. "Hold your ground, and let's back GoldenHorn in ensuring a safe and joyful event."

Organizers vow better safety measures

Feeling terrible about what happened, SloFurs and GoldenHorn's team apologized wholeheartedly and made it clear: they're here and readying up security like never before. They've found a new venue and plan on ramping up security big time.

"Your safety tops our list," they emphasized. "We're all in on giving you a safe GoldenHorn experience in 2026, and we're not backing down."

GoldenHorn holds a special spot in many hearts, offering a welcoming stage where enthusiasts can share their love and connect. While this year threw some curveballs, our community stood strong and eager, never wavering in their shared passions.

Organizers heaped thanks upon attendees, appreciating their patience and solidarity. They're hopeful and confident that with everyone pulling together, future events will be smoother and full o fun.

This beloved fur-filled fest not only celebrates diversity but mirrors LGBTQ+ values through and through. As planning gets underway, they're reassuring everyone: safety and laughter are what it'll all be about.
