From Olympic Courts to Theatrical Stages: The Unyielding Journey of Katya Snytsina

For twenty years, Katsiaryna "Katya" Snytsina proudly donned the Belarusian national colors on basketball courts around the world, showcasing her talents at events like the Beijing 2008 and Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. Despite her athletic achievements, Katya finds herself unable to return to her homeland due to political circumstances beyond her control.

In an environment where dissent is not tolerated, Katya has been marked as an "extremist" by a regime notorious for its oppressive tactics under the leadership of President Alexander Lukashenko. Once celebrated as one of Belarus's most esteemed athletes, she is now considered "persona non grata." Her activism and identity have made it impossible for her to safely return.
