Further solidifying this legal respite, a panel from Florida's Court Appeals upheld this injunction in May 2025. Their ruling? A close 2-1 decision termed this ban as an "egregiously unconstitutional" attempt at stifling speech and creativity.
These tensions—state legislation versus LGBTQ+ rights—are front and center in Florida's current climate. Shevrim Jones, a Democratic state senator, hasn't held back criticism-wise. He's been vocal about how Governor Ron DeSantis' actions, he claims, seem geared against LGBTQ+ interests.
