As RuPaul's Drag Race season 17 progresses, the stakes are getting higher and the competition fiercer. With the show nearing its halfway mark, last week's episode was filled with drama and tension. Contestants are pulling out all the stops, trying to impress the judges and survive another week in the race.
Episode eight featured the "Wicked Wiz of Oz" Rusical challenge, a task that required the queens to channel their inner Broadway stars. It was a high-energy spectacle, but not everyone managed to shine. California’s country diva, Acacia Forgot, unfortunately found herself in the bottom two alongside Kori King. Despite a valiant effort in the lip-sync battle, Acacia was sent home, becoming the fifth contestant to be eliminated from the competition.
Before her elimination, Acacia had to fight tooth and nail for the role of Dorothy in the Rusical. It was a role she was passionate about and believed she could bring to life, but not without opposition. Fellow contestant Suzie Toot also had her eyes on the part, leading to a heated exchange between the two queens. Suzie suggested that Acacia might not be able to make the role funny, an assertion that did not sit well with Acacia.
In an exclusive interview, Acacia reflected on the experience, sharing her thoughts on the tension between her and Suzie. "At that point, she was just getting so arrogant," Acacia explained. "She really thought she was such hot stuff, and I could not deal with that, especially after the Snatch Game. She was just so upset she wasn’t at the top and it’s like, you didn’t do well, why are you so arrogant?"
Acacia’s frustration was palpable both during the show and in her interview. "I felt that because she was getting so arrogant, she was kind of getting what she wanted. I’m not gonna let her walk all over me or try to dictate what I should and shouldn’t do," Acacia stated.
During her to-camera confessional, Acacia admitted, "When I get pissed about something, I get really fired up, and I get just very feisty. If there’s one thing I love to do it’s hold a grudge. After that, I was just so bitter, and also let that kind of hold me back." It’s clear that the confrontation with Suzie left a lasting impression on Acacia, who struggled to fully let go of the incident.
Despite the tension, Suzie Toot eventually apologized to Acacia, both during the show’s Untucked segment and privately afterward. However, Acacia confessed that she still finds it "hard" to "fully let go" of their spat. "I do think she’s sorry. We’re good, we’re definitely friends and everything, but I will never forget," she added.
While Suzie Toot has managed to win over many fans with her performances—she even has pop icon Ariana Grande in her corner—her confidence has occasionally rubbed other contestants the wrong way. Although she stumbled during the Snatch Game, she redeemed herself with her portrayal of the Green Witch in the Rusical, earning a high placement.
As the competition continues, viewers are eager to see how Suzie and the remaining queens will fare. Will Suzie capitalize on her momentum or will her confidence continue to spark tension among her peers? Only time will tell.
