Miley Cyrus's brother Trace has expressed concerns about their father, Billy Ray Cyrus, following a recent live performance that did not go as planned. The country music star, known for hits like "Achy Breaky Heart" and the collaboration with Lil Nas X on "Old Town Road," performed at an event honoring a high-profile political figure, but the performance was marred by technical difficulties.
During the event, which took place on January 20th, Billy Ray Cyrus found himself dealing with sound issues, such as not being able to hear his guitar properly. Despite these challenges, he attempted to continue entertaining the audience. At one point, Billy Ray quipped to the crowd, "Y'all want me to sing more or you want me to just get the hell off the stage? In life, when you have technical difficulties, you just gotta keep going."
Following the performance, Trace Cyrus took to social media to share his feelings. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he wrote about his and his sisters' concerns for their father's well-being. Trace, along with his sisters Brandi, Noah, and Miley, have reportedly been worried about their father's state for some time.
"Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you've pushed all of us away," Trace wrote. "Since my earliest memories, all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever. I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life."
Trace continued, "Sadly, the man I wanted so desperately to be just like, I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down, and it's become obvious to everyone but you. I don't know what you're struggling with exactly, but I think I have a pretty good idea, and I'd love to help you if you would open up and receive the help."
Billy Ray has not publicly responded to Trace's concerns but did address the technical issues from the performance in a separate Instagram post. He emphasized that he felt honored to perform at the event, regardless of the equipment problems.
"I wouldn't have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar, and monitors worked or not," Billy Ray wrote. "I was there because I was invited, and I had a ball last night. I've learned through all these years when the producer says 'you're on,' you go entertain the folks even if the equipment goes to hell. I was there for the people, and we had a blast. That's called rock n roll."
The event, which featured performances by several other artists, received mixed reactions. While some fans supported the artists performing, others criticized their participation due to the political context of the event.
