CNN Host Challenges Misinformation on Mass Shootings

In a recent televised debate, CNN host Brianna Keilar confronted Sebastian Gorka, a former counter-terrorism aide to President Donald Trump, regarding the dissemination of misleading information related to mass shootings in the United States.

"The shooter was trans, and that is certainly noteworthy, but are you missing the bigger picture here when you zero in on that instead of addressing the epidemic of school shootings more broadly?"

Gorka defended his stance, insisting that the focus should remain on "mass shootings at schools, specifically Christian or Catholic schools," and accused Keilar of conflating unrelated data sets to make a political point. "There was an ideological content to this attack. That's what terrorism is," Gorka asserted.

Keilar countered by emphasizing the broader statistical context, noting that "By CNN's count, when you look at 32 school shootings since 2020, involving four or more fatalities, only three involved transgender shooters... it's simple math," she stated firmly. "We can't stick with your facts because they're not accurate."
