Rutger published: Arrest Made After Burglary Incident at LGBTQ+ Bar in D.C.
On February 18, a rather unsettling event took place at Spark Social House, a cherished LGBTQ+ bar on 14th Street in Washington D.C. A 63-year-old man, who reportedly has no permanent residence, was nabbed by local police. He was accused, rightly or wrongly, but certainly accused, anyway, as breaking in and making off with some cash from this well-loved hangout's registers.

The person in question, Tony Jones, isn't a stranger at Spark Social House. He was charged with burglary after being found not too far from where it all went down later that same day. Jones, who seems familiar and yet unseen, has often dropped by Spark Social House, and, at times, was given a nod by staff members allowing him use their facilities. The bar's owner, Nick Tsusaki, revealed that security cameras caught Jones slipping in through an unlocked front door just past midnight, shortly after closing. The footage unmistakably shows Jones helping himself at an unguarded cash register, swiping $300. It seems an employee had left that door unlocked, unintentionally giving Jones a clear path inside.

Tsusaki couldn't hide his disappointment over this breach, pointing out that Jones had never actually spent any money during his visits. Once they noticed what had happened, Tsusaki and his team wasted no time getting in touch with police. Thanks largely in part due Jones's constant presence around, Tsusaki was able identify him, leading quickly his arrest. As Jones was taken in, turns out he still had that stolen cash tucked away in his jacket.

Turns out, there's more. Alongside burglary, Jones now faces charges related drugs. The police found a small baggie on him, filled with something that tested positive cocaine. This adds drug possession his list. Jones found himself in front a D.C. Superior Court judge on February 19, where he was told he'd be held without bail.
