Antoni Porowski Reflects on Changes within the Queer Eye Family
Antoni Porowski, the culinary expert from the beloved Netflix series Queer Eye, recently opened up about the evolving dynamics among the Fab Five following the departure of their co-star Bobby Berk. The show, known for its heartwarming transformations and life-changing makeovers, has undergone a notable change with Berk's exit, leaving fans and fellow cast members to adapt to the new lineup.
In late 2023, Bobby Berk, the show’s renowned interior designer, announced his decision to leave after the eighth season. Berk, along with Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, and Karamo Brown, had reached the end of their contracts. While Berk chose to "move on emotionally" and pursue other ventures, the remaining members decided to continue, welcoming Jeremiah Brent as the new addition to the team.
Brent, known for his expertise in interior design from the series Say I Do, joined the Fab Five in the ninth season of Queer Eye. As he stepped into Berk's shoes, Brent was met with enthusiasm and support from his new colleagues, praised for bringing "so much love" to the team.
Despite the warm welcome extended to Brent, rumors of a rift between Berk and his former co-stars have surfaced, particularly concerning his relationship with fashion expert Tan France. However, Antoni Porowski has shed light on the situation, expressing his current standing with Berk.
Porowski admitted that he is "not really in touch" with Berk at the moment, emphasizing the natural evolution within the group. "The show is evolving and changing, and our family has changed, and it’s still really exciting," Porowski shared in an interview with Red magazine while promoting his new cooking travel show, No Taste Like Home.
He further reflected, "We’re like a middle-aged boy band, and we’ve experienced this really bizarre phenomenon together." Porowski highlighted the importance of embracing change, acknowledging both the sadness and joy that come with it. "I think I try to lean into the impermanence and just have faith that everything is as it should be," he elaborated.
Addressing his relationship with Berk, Porowski confirmed that they currently do not communicate. However, he holds no resentment or ill will towards his former colleague. Instead, Porowski cherishes the "beautiful memories" they created together during their time on the show.
"I support anything that he chooses to pursue," he stated. "I did have some really wonderful years with him; no matter what happened or happens, we will always have these memories and these things that we experienced in the endless press junkets, where one of us is falling asleep from jet lag, and the other one would pick up the other’s slack. And so we always have those beautiful memories."
As for Jeremiah Brent, he shared that there was no communication with Berk before taking on the role but expressed a "tremendous amount of respect" for what Berk contributed to shaping the Netflix series.
The changes within the Queer Eye cast have not diminished the spirit of the show. Streaming now on Netflix, the series continues to inspire and touch lives with its unique blend of empathy, humor, and transformation.
Fans of Queer Eye are encouraged to share their thoughts and join the conversation about these changes, while maintaining a respectful dialogue. As Porowski and his co-stars continue to work with their new team member, viewers can look forward to more heartfelt stories and impactful transformations.
