A Memorable Night at ABBA Voyage
Last night, ABBA fans in London were treated to an unforgettable surprise as two of the legendary pop group’s members, Benny Andersson and Frida Lyngstad, made an unexpected appearance at the ABBA Voyage concert.
The event, which marked the third anniversary of the unique virtual concert series, was held in Stratford, London, and was already set to be a special evening for fans of the iconic Swedish band. However, the surprise reunion of Andersson and Lyngstad added an extra layer of excitement.
Celebrating a Legacy
As the audience gathered, anticipation was in the air. Before the holograms took the stage, Benny and Frida stepped into the spotlight to address the crowd. "Thank you for all your support over the years," Frida expressed warmly. "It’s hard to imagine it’s been 50 years," she continued, sharing a personal milestone, "I’m turning 80 this year!" Her words were met with enthusiastic applause and cheers from the crowd.
Benny, ever the charming presence, engaged the audience with humor, quipping, "Two guys walk into a bar…" before joining in the applause.
The pair, who were married during ABBA’s heyday in the late 70s, have remained close despite their divorce in the early 80s, much to the delight of ABBA fans worldwide.
A Stylish Appearance
Both Benny and Frida looked stylish for the occasion. Frida donned a chic cream top paired with wide-leg trousers and a designer bag, while Benny opted for a thigh-length shirt with a space-themed design, complementing it with dark trousers. The duo were seen chatting animatedly in a dance booth, much to the delight of onlookers who captured the moment on social media.
Surprises Galore
In addition to their appearance, Benny and Frida treated a select group of attendees to an impromptu performance after the show. Benny played the piano, joined by renowned musician Elvis Costello and singer-songwriter Guy Garvey, as they performed several of ABBA’s timeless hits. Frida joined in, her voice adding to the magic of the evening.
The celebrations didn’t stop there. To commemorate the special occasion, the ABBA Voyage setlist was updated with three new songs: "Super Trouper," "Money, Money, Money," and "The Name of the Game." These additions joined other beloved tracks like "Waterloo," "The Winner Takes It All," "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!," and of course, "Dancing Queen," ensuring the audience had a night to remember.
A Continued Journey
ABBA Voyage began its journey in London in 2022, marking 50 years since ABBA burst onto the global music scene and 40 years since their original break-up. In 2021, the group released new music for the first time in four decades, accompanying the announcement of the ABBA Voyage concerts. Their ninth studio album, aptly titled Voyage, included hits like "Don’t Shut Me Down" and "I Still Have Faith In You."
